Madeira is an island of dramatic contrasts. Steep cliffs rise from the Atlantic Ocean, ancient laurel forests are often wrapped in mist, and rugged mountain ridges catch the changing light throughout the day.
I first explored the island while leading a photography tour for This Way Photography Tours in 2023. From the coastline to the high peaks, every part of Madeira offered a different photographic experience. Fast-changing weather, moving clouds and soft morning light constantly reshaped the landscape, making no two days feel the same.
