Namibia Photo Tour 2027

11 Days Through Southern Namibia's Most Spectacular Landscapes

Namibia Photo Tour

__________________________________________________

For landscape photographers, Namibia is one of the world's greatest destinations.

Vast desert landscapes, extraordinary light, and some of the darkest night skies on Earth have made this remarkable country a dream destination for photographers from around the globe. From towering sand dunes and ancient camelthorn trees to abandoned ghost towns and dramatic granite mountains, Namibia offers an incredible variety of subjects within a single journey.

July is one of the best times to experience Namibia with a camera. The country's winter season brings stable weather, low humidity, clear air, and comfortable temperatures. The dry and long nights provide ideal conditions for astrophotography beneath crystal-clear skies.

Throughout this 11-day photography expedition, we'll travel through some of Southern Namibia's most iconic and photogenic locations, carefully timing our visits around the best available light and photographic opportunities.

World-Class Night Photography

Night photography is a key part of this expedition.

Namibia's exceptionally dark skies allow us to photograph the Milky Way and southern constellations above some of Africa's most spectacular landscapes. Ancient quiver trees and the dramatic granite formations of Spitzkoppe provide extraordinary foregrounds for astrophotography.

Few places in the world combine such iconic landscapes with such reliable conditions for photographing the night sky. Whether you're new to astrophotography or already experienced, you'll have plenty of opportunities to develop your skills beneath some of the darkest skies on the planet.

Small Groups

We believe photography is best experienced in a small and supportive group environment.

With a maximum of 10 participants, there is plenty of time for individual guidance in the field, discussions about composition and technique, and help with both technical and creative challenges. The small group format also gives us greater flexibility when working with changing light and conditions.

Whether you're looking to improve your landscape photography, learn more about astrophotography, or simply experience Namibia alongside like-minded photographers, this expedition is designed to help you create stronger images while enjoying an unforgettable adventure.

Our goal is simple: to help you return home with photographs you're proud of, new inspiration, and memories that will stay with you long after the journey ends.

Tour Highlights

Quiver Tree Forest & Night Photography

One of the highlights of the tour is photographing the iconic quiver trees near Keetmanshoop. At sunset, the trees create striking silhouettes against glowing skies, while after dark they become the perfect foreground for Milky Way photography and star trails beneath some of the darkest skies in Africa.

Lüderitz & Kolmanskop Ghost Town

The remote coastal town of Lüderitz offers fascinating architecture, rugged coastline, and a rich colonial history. Nearby lies Kolmanskop, one of the world's most famous ghost towns, where drifting desert sand fills abandoned houses and creates surreal photographic opportunities unlike anywhere else on Earth. Light streaming through windows, textures, shadows, and minimalist compositions make this a dream location for creative photographers.

Sossusvlei & Deadvlei

For many photographers, this is the ultimate Namibia experience. We spend two full days exploring the iconic landscapes of Sossusvlei, including Deadvlei, Dune 45, Big Daddy, and Sesriem Canyon. Towering red dunes, ancient camelthorn trees, and dramatic contrasts between light and shadow create some of the most recognisable landscape photography scenes in the world.

Swakopmund & Sandwich Harbour

Crossing the Namib Desert to the Atlantic coast, we reach Swakopmund and Walvis Bay. Here we experience one of Namibia's most spectacular environments: Sandwich Harbour, where enormous sand dunes plunge directly into the ocean. The combination of desert, sea, curves, textures, and scale provides endless opportunities for creative landscape photography.

Skeleton Coast & Cape Cross

Travelling north along the coast, we visit the famous Cape Cross seal colony and explore sections of the legendary Skeleton Coast. Shipwrecks, wildlife, coastal fog, and the harsh Atlantic environment offer a completely different photographic experience from the desert landscapes further south.

Spitzkoppe

Rising dramatically from the desert plains, Spitzkoppe is one of Africa's most iconic mountain landscapes. Massive granite domes, natural rock arches, and endless views create exceptional opportunities for both landscape and astrophotography. We photograph the area during the golden hours and, weather permitting, beneath a canopy of stars.
